24 HitOP

It's Wednesday night and I'm still recovering from last weekend's 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo in beautiful Tucson. As usual, the event was very well run and very well attended. 24 Hour Town, 10 miles down a dirt road across the highway from Biosphere 2 was incredible this year- lots of riders, lots of cool setups and a great vibe overall. Despite early forecasts for snow, course was dry & fast- which meant some blazingly fast lap times. Our camp included Ann's solo effort, Jen and my coed duo team (single speed), The Dans' men's duo team (single speed), Kip & Co (single speed), a 4-person men's and 4-person ladies' team. Altogether, we had about 20 people, an RV, some big tents, and (of course) the Sprinter. Sandy & I decided to car camp in style and sprung for a 14' Sprinter, which is a good 80in tall inside. Look for the review in the coming weeks, but I will say the the 'Benz diesel kicks ass and a full size bed, mattress and box spring fit with room to spare. Special thanks to fellow rider Dave at Ryder in Albuquerque for the great service.

Special thanks to Darren at Ay Up for the use of a pair of their fantastic lights- on the helmet, they were a perfect, lightweight compliment to our test Light & Motion Seca 700 on the bars. Want to check them out yourself? Ay Up's schedule is here- and the rental rate more than reasonable (the entire ladies' team gave them a go and were very impressed).

All in all, it was a great weekend. Great teammates, great campmates and of course great support. Now it's early to bed here at bikefix HQ, but we'll be back with plenty more reviews of gear from Orange, Light & Motion and WTB on the horizon.
